5 Things about Psychic Shielding

If you have ever looked into empathy, intuition, psychic or mediumship what it is, how it works and what to do about it you have heard the terms, “Shield and Protect.” “Bubble of Light” “Blocking Negativity”. They are often the go to for those starting a spiritual/paranormal path from those that have worked with it for some time. If you are reading this blog you are most likely wondering if you should try it, just how to go about it and if it really works. Here are 5 things you need to know.

1. Yes, everyone should develop a means of shielding themselves from the negativity about them. I find it is most often people, not spirit, which is the reason we wish to surround ourselves with something loving and good.

Now this is not to say there isn’t sometimes negativity when working with Spirit, but in working with Spirit it is more often meant to open a door to deeper healing.

2. When you start working with Spirit to help others, a shield is called for so you do not carry another person's lesson with you. Shields help you to see what belongs to you and what belongs to others.

Every time you connect to another person there is an exchange of energies, good and bad, but your path is yours alone and a shield will help you navigate what is best for you and give you a level of detachment to better help others.

3. Setting a shield is not difficult. You don’t need to meditate for an hour, be led by another, or douse yourself in crystals and sage smoke. By all means if these things help you as you are learning, by all means do so.

Setting a shield about yourself is as simple as envisioning a pure circle of light that surrounds you. You can see yourself within it as it forms, or you can form it in front of you and step into it when you are ready. It is complete a circle so do not forget to wrap it under your feet.

4. Shields and bubbles of light will not remove your problems or life lessons. It will not stop your boss from being upset of work isn’t done, it won’t stop a bill collector from calling, nor will it not stop your children from talking back. It will not bring you financial windfalls or endless joy in your relationship.

What it will do is give you a safe space to look at the things going on around you that will affect you, and remove some of the knee jerk reactions and feelings of being overwhelmed and anxiety that comes more from other people then yourself. It gives you a place to think and feel yourself, not everyone around you.

5. Shields are not meant to be in place constantly, nor have one upon another. Think about it this way. You go to bed and you are cold, so you put on a blanket. Still not warm after a few minutes, so you toss on another and another and another. Soon you may be warm and feel cozy, but then you have smothered yourself underneath this pile of cloth. It is hard to move and at some point you are going to get too hot and have to get up for some reason. Now you might want to stay there, but trust me, your bladder or your stomach is going to say otherwise.

When I started shielding myself, I found it actually bothered me a lot as I was a sponge taking other peoples energy on, and my empathy and intuition was running rampant before them.I went from being exhausted to feeling lost and disconnected from the world about me. At the end of it all I was frustrated and upset that it wasn’t working. I dissolved the shields and breathed. It was a lesson in balance that I strongly encourage you to undertake.

How do you dissolve a shield? It is as easy as making it. You can think of it as becoming separate pieces of light and sparkles floating away into Spirit taking the negative with it to be cleansed and re-energized. Alternatively you can envision it melting away into the ground like a puddle with the same intention.

Like all things you will find on your own personal journey with Spirit and faith, shields call for a balance. It is a good practice to undertake particularly if you are finding yourself surrounded with negative after negative. Put them up in the morning and down in the evening until you get used to the feel of them. Use it to work on your own more negative aspects and come to a place where others feel your shield as a light in what may be a hard day. Why do I say that? Because in time you will love yourself and the world about you more when it is just you, you are feeling.

Blessings
