Snow Globe Wisdom - Seasonal Shielding
Right from the get go I will tell you I have issue with the whole “shield and protect” thing. I am not saying I don’t do it, but I do tend to look at it a lot deeper than that simple statement.
The whole intent behind shielding and protecting yourself is to keep the lower, more negative energies from affecting your own. Some people think of it as keeping their aura or personal space pure. A bubble through which nothing can bring them down and as I write this this I get this image of a medieval knight with this huge shield that covers his front from head toe, and a body covered in steel plate. But sadly he cannot see the attacker coming because of it. Sure he is protected from the first assault, but he is going to have to move that heavy hunk of metal to do anything truly effective to take care of himself and the amour alone is weighing him down in such a way his movements are slower and more difficult. At the end of the battle he is going to be exhausted. Who wants that at the end of the day?
Shielding should be something that allows you not only a space in which your own positive energies thrive, but allows you to see and interact with the greater world at large. Really, the world is a beautiful place and some of those negative things you are blocking yourself off from are steps to your own personal growth and understanding. It is meant to give you a new perspective and alternative choices in your own life. I am not saying that at times we do need to retreat from the world into our happy places to heal, but we cannot live there out of fear, regret or guilt. In fact it is the opposite purpose of shielding yourself.
So, what about the snow globe? There are very few people who do not enjoy a snow globe at some point in their lives. Personally, we try to get our child one every year as a collection for her to keep when she is an adult. Using a snow globe as a model for your shield is an effective way to reap the benefits of doing so.
Like all shields, it starts with that glass globe surrounding you in a complete circle. (Don’t forget to circle it under your feet) It is clear and perfect; you can see all angles from with and without. Now start filling it with that clear pure water, or energy that is the part of you that is spirit and light, and add in the pure white snow or sparkles. I find choosing a color of the sparkles helps me with aligning my weaker chakras.
Now for the fun part, add in the things you love. Is it trees, an angel or animal or just colored lights? Perhaps it is loved ones or a special place or thing. All that matters is that what you put in the things that make you feel happy, loved and safe to be with. Now add a base for it to sit upon. What? Whoa a base? Yes a base as you don’t want to be rolling away. It is a way of grounding yourself to the now. Keep in mind with the base, it can be any shape or color and for myself, I love the globes that play music so I add the song of the day that is making me happy into that base. And give the globe a nice polish with the things you love about you.
Now your globe is ready, you are surrounded by positive energy and light. Where ever your travels take you, you have the ability to show the best parts of you and to see the world about you. You can reinforce this with the simple affirmation, “I bring a smile to all I meet today.” And if you see something that makes your globe better, add it in.
And if for some reason that negativity seems to be hovering over your globe, pick it up, give it a shake, turn on the music and reset. Remember, they can be fragile, but that is part of their beauty and of your own.
